What entrainment means
In this context, entrainment usually refers to rhythmic sensory input influencing the timing or power of measured neural activity. Researchers may use EEG, behavioral tasks, or self-report to study it.
Measured brain activity is not the same as better performance
An audio stimulus can change an EEG trace without improving memory, attention, or daily function. Conversely, a calming routine can help someone start work without proving a specific frequency caused a biological change.
The human evidence is mixed
Studies of binaural beats and related sounds use different carriers, beat frequencies, session lengths, controls, and tasks. Some report changes; others find no significant improvement on the outcome that mattered. That variability makes broad product claims hard to justify.
How to read a claim
Ask what was tested, in whom, compared with what, and for how long. Then ask whether the product uses the same protocol. If the answer is unclear, keep the conclusion modest.
