What Are Gamma Brainwaves? A Plain-English Guide

Gamma is a real neuroscience term. It is also a broad marketing shortcut, so context matters.

Gamma in one sentence

Gamma refers to relatively fast patterns of neural oscillation, often discussed across roughly 30–100 Hz. Researchers examine these patterns in relation to perception, attention, memory, and coordination between brain areas.

Why the term is not a promise

Brain activity is not a simple dial where more gamma automatically means better memory. Frequency, location, timing, task, measurement method, and individual differences all matter. A product that says “activate gamma” has not yet told you what was measured or what outcome followed.

How this relates to The Memory Wave

The product is marketed around a gamma-oriented audio idea. That makes gamma relevant context, but it does not show that the delivered recording produces a particular neural pattern or improves a meaningful memory outcome.

Useful distinction: A brainwave label describes a research topic. It is not a clinical diagnosis, an ingredient, or a product guarantee.
